Strategy

The modern world faces challenges such as geopolitical conflicts, technogenic and environmental disasters, which lead to mass migration. As a result of these and other crises, millions of people find themselves in difficult circumstances where their safety, rights, and dignity are under threat.

Mission

We strive for a future in which the state and society safeguard and respect the rights, safety, and dignity of every individual — even in times of great upheaval. We combine direct support for people, capacity-building for hromadas and the civil society sector, and work towards institutional and societal change to bring this future closer.

Right to Protection’s strategy for 2024–2028 aims to protect, rehabilitate, and empower people and hromadas affected by war, disasters, and forced displacement, and to promote changes that prevent and effectively address such situations.

Strategic Focus Areas

The Fund implements its activities through four interlinked areas of focus, aimed at supporting the war-affected population in Ukraine, internally displaced persons, Ukrainian refugees abroad, veterans, stateless persons, refugees and asylum seekers, as well as at recovery, creating opportunities for development, and driving systemic change.

Direct Assistance to the War-Affected Population

Direct Assistance to the War-Affected Population

The Fund provides protection, humanitarian aid, and support for the (re-)integration of those affected, helping them to return to a stable and dignified life. Its activities include legal, psychological, social, material, and cash assistance, as well as support for economic inclusion and social cohesion.

Capacity Building for Hromadas and Local Institutions

Capacity Building for Hromadas and Local Institutions

R2P strengthens hromadas’ capacity to implement systemic solutions for the protection and (re-)integration of those affected by providing expert support, resources, and opportunities to develop local initiatives.

Strengthening the Capacity of the Civil Society Sector

Strengthening the Capacity of the Civil Society Sector

The Fund promotes the effectiveness of civil society organisations by creating a network of partnerships, facilitating the exchange of expertise, training, and financial support, thereby enhancing their collective impact in protecting affected populations.

Institutional and Social Change

Institutional and Social Change

R2P promotes systemic change at local, national, and international levels through advocacy, research, and communication, with the aim of safeguarding people’s rights, freedoms and dignity and preventing crises.

Organisational Development

R2P also systematically develops its organisational capacity to effectively fulfil its mission amid constant change and crises.

We are improving:

  • management processes;
  • strategic planning;
  • digital solutions;
  • analytics systems;
  • fundraising;
  • financial stability;
  • internal communications;
  • team development.

This in turn allows for flexibility and consistent improvement with sustainability in mind.

Vision of Institutional Development

The Fund strives to become a recognised leader in the Ukrainian civil society sector, with significant expertise in its field of activity and as an organisation capable of driving systemic social change that contributes to the recovery and sustainable development of society, built on professionalism and trust.
