Paralegal Assistance

Paralegal assistance (basic assistance on access to protection and public services in remote settlements) — This is a free, quick, and accessible consultation provided by certified persons who have undergone basic training and are in communication with specialists in the field of law regarding urgent problems related to forced displacement and the conditions of martial law in Ukraine. Paralegals work within the Right to Protection legal aid programme.

Paralegals deal with:

conducting legal educational work among IDPs and the war-affected population;

proactive identifying and receiving beneficiaries’ requests regarding basic issues of protection and access to public services, and legal issues in hromada’s settlements;

identification of beneficiaries' needs for legal assistance;

redirecting beneficiaries to the Fund’s specialists or external partners;

formation of groups of beneficiaries for conducting legal sessions by the Fund’s specialists;

providing support to beneficiaries in using online services to access public services — registration, obtaining certificates, filling out forms, etc.

Types of paralegal assistance:

legal education work among IDPs and the war-affected population;

providing free consultations and support in the use of online services on issues of access to protection and public services;

identification of beneficiaries’ needs for legal aid and redirections to Right to Protection specialists, in particular of legal aid programmes, or partner organisations;

forming groups of beneficiaries for conducting legal sessions by the Fund’s specialists (if there is a relevant request);

communication with people in the case of redirection to the Fund’s specialists for collection of additional information, case preparation, and support.
