Right to Protection’s experts held a meeting for people in difficult life circumstances and for representatives of the Roma community. Such events were taking place in Horodnyanska hromada in Chernihivska oblast and Zhmerynka in Vinnytsika oblast.
The training sessions focused on access to fundamental rights for undocumented persons and the prevention of statelessness.
The Fund's lawyers informed the participants about the phenomenon of statelessness, the procedure for processing documents, and the possibilities of obtaining legal protection. They paid particular attention to the issues of exercising their rights under martial law and the importance of timely registration of births, as this procedure helps to prevent statelessness.
In addition, during the events, Liudmyla Bovan, a community outreach specialist at R2P, notified the participants on how to confidently defend their rights and express their own opinions without violating the rights of others.
Our experts shared useful information to help people avoid the risk of statelessness and access services and opportunities provided by the state. Such events help to inform about fundamental rights and procedures for protecting these rights, the importance of proper documentation, and assist in uniting people in the hromada.
Local heads of civil registry offices attended the meeting in each city.
Earlier, R2P held two training sessions, Discrimination as One of the Causes of Statelessness: Documentation of Stateless Persons, for representatives of the Roma community in Poltavska and Cherkasks oblasts.
