R2P’s Regional Offices Successfully Held a Series of Training Sessions, Fundamentals of Humanitarian Protection

Recently, a series of training sessions on the fundamentals of humanitarian protection, which, throughout a month, took place all over Ukraine in R2P`s regions of work, have successfully finalised.

This training allowed for the significant improvement of the professionalismtof R2P’s specialists, who provide daily support to those in need. One of the Fund's strategic objectives is to ensure a high level of knowledge of humanitarian protection issues for all employees. The purpose of the training was, in particular, to familiarise the colleagues with the Protection field, the context of international humanitarian law, the cluster system, and areas of activity that cover the provision of assistance to the affected population.

The training programme covered the following topics:

У межах тренінгової програми було охоплено такі теми:

  • history and basic principles of humanitarian aid,
  • cluster coordination system,
  • principles of humanitarian organisations,
  • humanitarian risks,
  • gender-based violence,
  • directions of humanitarian protection (work with the hromada, risk monitoring, case management, protection of children's rights, referral, legal aid and humanitarian demining).

The trainers were R2P's managers: heads of regional teams, senior lawyers, and protection monitoring specialists.

Usage of practical tools during the trainings has helped the participants to memorize information better. The team has enjoyed pleasant and friendly atmosphere that has improved the process of studying theory.

This training programme was conducted thanks to the cooperation of “Right to Protection” Charitable Fund with GOAL Global as part of the project funded by Irish Aid and private donors “Building Bricks for Humanitarian Excellence"
