Ksenia Gedz, Advocacy Coordinator of R2P, participated in the Council of Europe roundtable, Compensation for Damage, Losses and Injuries Caused by the Aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, which took place in Warsaw on 18–19 March.

The two-day event brought together national and foreign experts, representatives of international organisations, Ukrainian government agencies and civil society.

During the roundtable, the participants considered ways to effectively implement the recommendations that will help improve the system of current and future legal protection and compensation for damages from the aggression against Ukraine.

On 20–21 March, an international conference on integrating Ukrainian children in European countries was held in Bucharest. 176 participants attended the event, including Ksenia Gedz, Advocacy Coordinator of R2P, and Ivanna Herus, Director of the Representative Office of R2P in Poland.

During the conference, they discussed successful international experiences on this issue and the challenges faced by host countries.

R2P's experts participated in panel discussions on children's access to education and social and medical services.

In her speech, Ksenia Gedz stressed that host countries must consider the best interests of displaced children, provide conditions for free expression, and preserve their identity in the new socio-cultural environment.

"It is of great importance to have international treaties that regulate mass evacuations in crises and address the problems associated with prolonged stay in the host country, as well as a transparent mechanism for returning children to their country of residence that is focused on the best interests and needs of children," said Ksenia Gedz.
