Mentorship for CSOs: success story of an organisation from Odesa

December 30, 2025

VY.MOVA is a non-governmental organisation based in Odesa that works in the fields of education and social integration across more than 20 oblasts in Ukraine. It provides services to veterans, internally displaced persons, and other vulnerable groups.

In 2024–2025, the organisation received mentoring support from Right to Protection as part of a project supported by GIZ Ukraine. Thanks to this cooperation, the VY.MOVA NGO strengthened its institutional capacity and developed key internal documents:

  • operational and communication plan for 2025;
  • fundraising strategy;
  • donor and partner database;
  • development strategy for 2025–2027;
  • physical and digital security policies.

The development of a fundraising strategy enabled the organisation to secure targeted funding from several donors, confirming its financial capacity. As a result, the VY.MOVA NGO raised over 180,000 USD and more than 1 million UAH to hold the Black Sea Security Forum.

This is an example of how a local organisation, with the right institutional tools, can independently take full responsibility for implementing large-scale initiatives at the national and international levels.
