With R2P’s Support, the Ihsan-Sincerity Community Launched a Course on Creating and Developing Social Projects for Youth and Teenagers

December 3, 2024

On 18 November, with the support of Right to Protection, the course on creating and developing social projects “Project Management. From Idea to Implementation, for teenagers and youth” was launched for the Ihsan-Sincerity community. Seventeen people aged 14 to 22 attended the course. Its goal was to familiarise participants with the process of creating and developing social projects that will be useful to the hromada they live in. Children of refugees and IDPs living in Drohobych joined the training.

During the first session, the participants had the opportunity to talk to Kseniia Pecherska, Trainer and Consultant on Public Projects. She shared successful examples of similar initiatives in other regions of Ukraine. Participants also offered their ideas and analysed the problems and needs of the local hromada and particularly their community.

A total of five lecture meetings are planned, during which teenagers and young people will be divided into groups under the mentorship of the trainer and with the help of Hanna Lukashevych, Community Outreach Specialist at R2P. Each team will define its topic and work on developing and implementing a relevant social project.

In addition to lectures, individual consultations will be held. At the end of the training, the grant committee will determine which team deserves to receive a mini-grant to implement their social project.

Hanna Lukashevych, Community Outreach Specialist at R2P:

“This course will help participants to acquire the necessary knowledge and try their hand at organising and conducting a project where everyone in the team will have their own role and responsibility. Thus, with the support of their parents, mentored by the trainer and R2P’s staff, young people will analyse the needs and challenges of their community, look for tools and resources to implement a project that would meet a need or solve a problem. Participants will also prepare presentations and defend their idea and may eventually receive funding for its implementation.”

The Ihsan-Sincerity community is a non-governmental organisation that has been operating in Drohobych since 2016. Its members opened the Cultural Center of Crimean Tatars in the city to hold celebrations and educational events for men, women, and children. Ihsan-Sincerity provides temporary shelter and assistance to IDPs from Crimea and refugees from post-Soviet countries such as Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan. The community also cooperates with other NGOs to support its members.
