On Saturday, 11 November, a training course to support stateless persons in Kyivska oblast started. 8 participants joined the practice.
As announced earlier, we have launched a Basic Social, Legal, and Digital Literacy Course for Stateless Persons in Kyivska Oblast. Through the training, participants will learn more about their rights and how to exercise them, as many employees of official structures and state institutions still need to know who IDPs are and their status.
Sofiia Kordonets, Head of Legal Assistance to Stateless Population in Ukraine
We have been working on documenting stateless persons for six years. However, this is the first time we have organised such a course for them. It will help participants learn more about their rights and how to exercise them.
The course for stateless persons will be held every Saturday for 10 weeks. On the first day, the participants worked with the psychologist Oksana Homel. During the session, they could share their fears and problems and receive support. The specialist also provided them with training in soft skills, such as establishing communication with a partner and presenting themselves and others.
Trainer Natalia Voitenko explained how digital opportunities can make life easier if used correctly and safely. In addition, during the class, the participants set up tablets provided by R2P.
The project's trainer and lawyer, Anastasiia Soloviova, also conducted a legal literacy class. Participants learned about the definition of statelessness and the stages of its acquisition and discussed the importance of filling out documents correctly. In addition, they shared the concerns they would like to solve with the help of our course.
