The Right to Business Educational Programme for Entrepreneurs Launched in Kyivska Oblast

March 17, 2025

The Right to Business educational programme, implemented by Right to Protection, has been launched in Kyivska oblast. The first training session, Business Idea, took place over three days in Bucha, Irpin, and Makariv. Valeriia Sekisova, Head of the Economic Resilience & Early Recovery programme, conducted them.

This is Kyivska oblast, a de-occupied hromada that was partially destroyed and is now gradually recovering. It is our first course in a small hromada, and I expect it to be helpful and really contribute to increasing economic activity in the micro-entrepreneurship sector. I hope that we will be able to give the participants knowledge and skills, as well as support them with grants so that people can improve the economy of the oblast. The group is excellent; the people are active and engaged, and you can see what they want to do and do it here.

In total, 104 participants joined the training, gaining valuable knowledge and sharing their entrepreneurial initiatives. For example, in Irpin, a car wash project was proposed, combining a tyre fitting and a café, as well as an idea for organising children's parties. In Bucha, an early development school and a creative space were presented. In Makariv, the participants suggested, among other things, a family farm and a children's clothing store. Other interesting business ideas included projects in agriculture, retail, and catering.

Business support is vital today, as it contributes to budget revenues and the creation of new jobs, which the oblast needs, especially in these difficult times. Businesses require support in all possible ways, and we want to help increase their number. This, in turn, will allow us to implement other critical projects, including support for veteran businesses. We are currently working on new programmes to support businesses, including partial reimbursement of interest on government loans. We will also soon launch a project to support industrial property. It is essential not only to support businesses but also to understand their needs better and help entrepreneurs find practical development solutions.

The first training session helped the participants identify the strengths and weaknesses of their projects, analyse the market and their target audience, and learn about opportunities for starting and developing a business in Ukraine.

Such events are our first steps towards implementing a training programme in entrepreneurship education that can bring local authorities and businesses to a new, higher level. This programme is designed to support both existing businesses and those planning to use the business hub for their own needs. With R2P's support, we will create the first business hub in our hromada, accessible to entrepreneurs and provided with the necessary computers, office equipment, communications, and a stable electricity supply. We are confident that this will promote entrepreneurship and help solve urgent problems in the face of current challenges.

The participants gained practical knowledge, shared their own stories, and actively discussed the challenges entrepreneurs face. New training sessions will help participants master financial planning, marketing, and legal aspects of doing business. The best participants will receive grants.

The joint efforts of the public sector and local authorities allow them to attract additional resources and create a favourable environment for implementing social and economic projects. Such interaction offers new opportunities for the sustainable growth of local businesses and the improvement of residents' quality of life.

The course was organised by Right to Protection with assistance from AWO International and financial support from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ) and Aktion Deutschland Hilft (ADH).
