R2P Assistance to Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Stateless Persons in Ukraine programme direction's team prepared a contribution to inform the European Commission on the situation with access to international protection in Ukraine in the context of the 2024 Enlargement Package. In turn, the European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE) published a compilation of our contributions.
Read the PublicationThis publication aims to fill the gap in the information provided by civil society organisations on the situation with access to international protection and forced displacement in the process of EU integration of the candidate countries. Along with Ukraine, Albania, Kosovo, and Serbia have contributed.
The expert papers provide both an analysis of the scope of international protection in the context of the fundamental pillars of the accession process and a more detailed overview of specific challenges in certain sections of EU legislation, in particular in the areas of the judiciary, fundamental rights, justice, freedom, and security.
Sofiia Kordonets, Head of the Assistance to Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Stateless Persons in Ukraine programme direction
This work is significant for Ukraine as an EU candidate country. Our contribution to developing international protection policy demonstrates our readiness to meet the highest European standards in this field.
ECRE will disseminate the publication to the External Relations Working Group as well as to European policymakers.
