Right to Protection always actively cooperates with local authorities to assist internally displaced persons and the war-affected population in the most efficient and coordinated manner. Today, the President of the Fund, Sasha Galkin, visited Kharkiv, where he met with Mayor Ihor Terekhov and discussed the results of work in the city in 2024, as well as priority projects for 2025.
In addition, Sasha Galkin visited the transit point for evacuees and the Svii hub, a space that was initiated this year by the Kharkiv City Council and implemented by R2P with the support of the United Nations Refugee Agency to help the war-affected population receive essential services and assistance.
The day before, R2P’s President visited Poltava, where he met with the Secretary of the Poltava City Council, Kateryna Yamshchykova. During these discussions, the topic of providing housing for IDPs and the possibility of creating social housing funds, which interest Poltavskaa hromada, was raised.
They also discussed the issue of creating a space for adaptation and integration in the city, where IDPs and the war-affected population can receive essential services and support in one place on a one-stop-shop basis. The meeting resulted in the signing of a memorandum of cooperation with the Poltava City Council.
Sasha Galkin, also visited the Fund's office in Sloviansk. Together with the team, they discussed current issues, particularly the ways to improve coordination in providing assistance at transit centres during the evacuation of residents.
The President shared R2P’s development strategy and the plans for the following year. They also considered possible options for cooperation with local authorities to strengthen the provision of assistance to the war-affected population.
