Participants of the Right to Business course in Odesa presented their business projects and received certificates. We continue to support them through online consultations on accounting, legal services and grants.
The Right to Business training course aims to support local micro-businesses, promote the region's economy, strengthen their ability to attract financing for entrepreneurial activities and improve the business skills of programme participants.
Valeriia Sekisova, programme coordinator of R2P
"The Right to Business course in Odesa was not only about quality training, which is a basic component of our courses but also about promoting integration because almost all of our participants moved to Odesa from other oblasts. I remember how, at the first meeting, one participant said: "I don't know anyone in the city." By creating a space of acceptance and mutual support during the training, we saw how people communicated with each other and planned their business activities. I am sure that this will contribute to faster integration. I am sincerely grateful to those Odesa residents who volunteered to work with our group. These were trainers, representatives of the city administration, the regional employment centre, and local entrepreneurs who shared their experience doing business in Odesa. They gave advice and told us about entrepreneurship support programmes. Such interaction creates links between IDPs and locals and demonstrates openness and readiness for acceptance, which are necessary for those looking for a foothold in a new place. I am very pleased that we combined quality training with inspiration and networking,"
Some of our participants are already seeing results thanks to their well-written applications: they have received grants from the state, charitable organisations and invitations to study abroad.
After the training, the group visited several companies. There, the participants learned how marketing tools can be used to expand cooperation with different clients, consumers and partners.
The intensive schedule of visits gave the participants the opportunity to see various aspects of the businesses and understand how they operate.
During the training, the participants covered the following topics:
In addition, the participants attended an online training session from R2P's communications team on promoting their business on social media.
Graduates of the Right to Business course in Odesa have mastered the skills of effective financial management, learnt how to avoid common mistakes in doing business, and developed their business plans based on experts' recommendations, ready for practical implementation.
In addition, the participants found like-minded people and built valuable connections in the business community. They also learned how to raise funding for the further development of their businesses. An essential part of the training was information on applying for grants for entrepreneurs.
The course was organised by R2P as a partner of the Ukraine Response Consortium within the Response Consortium: Providing Multidisciplinary Humanitarian Assistance to the War-Affected Population in Ukraine (2023–2024) project. The programme is funded by the USAID Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance (BHA).
