On 20–21 August, Kyiv hosted a forum for specialists of Right to Protection's social assistance and protection programme as part of the Social Change Workshop. At the event, our experts had the opportunity not only to meet and discuss topical issues in the field of social protection but also to improve their knowledge and skills.
Fifty-five specialists working in different regions of Ukraine attended the forum. The event was devoted to providing social services to families with children and families raising children with disabilities through case management.
It was worthwhile for the programme specialists to exchange experience with colleagues from other regions. Valentyna Prysiazhniuk, senior social training specialist at R2P, conducted the Case Management of Individuals/Families in Difficult Life Circumstances training session. The participants also reviewed myths and facts about case management and got acquainted with international and domestic principles of social service provision, especially in the context of martial law.
Natalia Vlasiuk, a social work training specialist at R2P, conducted the second training session, covering aspects of working with families raising a child with a disability. The participants received information on the content components of social work with families of the relevant status.
Interactive training methods, role-playing simulations, brainstorming sessions and small group work were the basis of the two-day events. This contributed to the active involvement of participants in discussions and the strengthening of professional competencies.

Also, the sincere feedback from colleagues and the exchange of experience in case management showed the specialists how valuable the work they do within the Foundation every day is, which objectively increases the resilience of both individuals and communities in general."
For the record, R2P's Social Protection programme provides a wide range of services free of charge for people in difficult life circumstances. In 2024, the programme's main focus was an integrated approach to human needs through case management services, which includes an individual approach to each person or family, assessment of their needs, planning, and implementation of specific actions to improve their well-being.
Recently, R2P experts have also developed and published a methodological manual, Case Management in Social Work: Methodological Aspects and Recommendations. It will help professionals in the field to deepen and improve their knowledge and learn more about case management approaches.
The Social Change Workshop is a methodological centre for professional training. Within its framework, R2P's experts conduct training for local governments, social service providers, etc., as well as research to determine the needs of people for social services.
