Right to Protection Held the Training for Judges, Disputes in the Field of Protection of Internally Displaced Persons

On 26–27 September, in Kyiv, Right to Protection, with the National School of Judges of Ukraine and the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), held a training session, Disputes in the Field of Protection of Internally Displaced Persons.

The event touched upon topical issues, such as the protection of the rights and interests of internally displaced persons in civil and administrative proceedings. That is why they also analysed national and international legislation. In this area, they also discussed the peculiarities of considering issues related to appealing against decisions and actions and the inaction of public authorities by internally displaced persons.

Ukraine is suffering incredible losses as a result of Russian aggression. Civilians and soldiers are being killed, and civilian infrastructure is under the threat of enemy strikes. Every day, Ukrainians face the loss and damage of property due to the full-scale invasion.

“Court practice in cases of compensation for property and moral damage is essential. Therefore, the study of this issue and its discussion by judges is critical in times of war (court decisions against Ukraine, against Russia and the filing of civil claims in criminal proceedings).”

Among other things, the participants had the opportunity to discuss topical issues of confirming the work experience of IDP pensioners and the problem of obtaining the status of a person with a disability caused by the war.
