Right to Protection's programme management team participated in Fundamentals of Humanitarian Protection training

February 20, 2025

A few days ago, the Fundamentals of Humanitarian Protection training for Right to Protection's programme management team" was successfully held in Kyiv.

The development of a corporate culture of continuous learning and improvement, as well as the constant enhancement of its sectoral expertise, are among the Fund's strategic goals. Given this, ensuring a high level of knowledge on humanitarian protection issues for all R2P employees is necessary.

In particular, the team of program coordinators is a key link between strategic management processes and the organisation of the work of teams that directly provide assistance in the protection field. That is why deepening their knowledge is vital for them.

During the two-day training, participants updated their knowledge of the history and basic principles of humanitarian assistance, the cluster coordination system, the concept of humanitarian protection, methods of context analysis and protection risks. The trainers were our colleagues — Deputy Coordinator of the Legal Aid programme Marta Spodaryk and Coordinator of the Cash for Protection programme Oleksii Danylchuk.

The humanitarian protection training is a unique opportunity to contextualise humanitarian response in the context of the war in Ukraine, as each audience, through creative group exercises, brings personal expertise, which allows adapting theoretical knowledge to the real conditions and needs of a specific situation.

We are grateful for this opportunity to explore the topic of humanitarian protection using Ukrainian case studies and exchange views with colleagues with experience in humanitarian response in Ukraine.

This training programme was conducted thanks to the cooperation of “Right to Protection” Charitable Fund with GOAL Global as part of the project funded by Irish Aid and private donors “Building Bricks for Humanitarian Excellence"
