R2P’s regional team leaders attended the Advocacy at the Local Level: Planning, Stakeholders, Decisions training

February 26, 2025

“We discovered the world of advocacy”, “A wonderful opportunity to structure existing knowledge and gain new, proven and effective knowledge”, and “A good balance of theory, practice and experience sharing” — this is only a small part of the feedback received from R2P’s regional team leaders regarding the Advocacy at the Local Level: Planning, Stakeholders, Decisions training, which took place recently in Kyiv.

This training aimed to strengthen team leaders' capacity to identify problems related to advocacy at the local level and effectively solve them in fields together with contact persons who make decisions. During the training, the participants were able to uncover and delve into, in particular, such topics:

  • the essence and results of an advocacy campaign, determining the national and local levels of its implementation;

  • organisation of the work of key stakeholders;

  • legal instruments of influence, communication tools, etc.

For two days, our colleagues received new knowledge, studied useful tools, worked on practical cases, and discussed real-life experiences of conducting advocacy campaigns together with trainer Maksym Latsyba.

Hanna Horenych, Head of R2P’s Dnipro regional office

Maksym is a true fan and professional in his field. Huge gratitude for not just dry theory: instead, we had the opportunity to discuss the maximum number of real cases from the trainer’s experience. Moreover, all this was understandable, with quotes from Ukrainian literature and anecdotes. Everything was relevant and very easy to understand!

Oleh Lutsiv, Deputy Head of the Advocacy programme of R2P

It was interesting. We managed to get acquainted with the experience of successful advocacy campaigns and cases. We also received many specific examples of non-standard, even creative, approaches to solving advocacy problems from the trainer. There is a lot to borrow.

This training program was conducted thanks to the cooperation of “Right to Protection” Charitable Fund with GOAL Global as part of the project funded by IrishAid and private donors, Building Bricks for Humanitarian Excellence.
