Presentation of Psychologist in Touch in Kyiv

November 23, 2023

On 22 November, the book Psychologist in Touch was introduced in Kyiv. Our wonderful authors Anna Mohylnyk and Maria Yatsukhnenko, psychologists with 10 years of experience, conducted the event.

Psychologist in Touch is a collection of educational, practical and therapeutic texts about life, stress resistance, and human recovery during war. The book consists of 4 sections. Readers can go from learning about the definitions of mental states and processes through recovery and relationships with others and the world to practical self-help techniques and resource searches.

The specialist told about the work of R2P's Mental Health Care Service. They shared their path from the first day of the channel's creation to the last page of the Psychologist in Touch book. They also organised a mini-quiz on mental health.

Nadiya Kovalchuk, the Foundation's programme director, also spoke during the presentation, emphasising the importance of psychological support in times of war.

Nadiya Kovalchuk, Programme Director at R2P

When we founded the psychological service, we immediately determined to spend 30% of our efforts on education. After all, no matter how many psychologists are in the organisation, they are not enough for everyone (...) These things are essential. Sometimes, it seems that solving the housing issue, providing financial assistance, and covering basic needs is enough, but everyone has lost something (...) I am thrilled that we have a mental health service and specialists for whom this is more than a job. It is their mission to help those in need.

Anyone can download the book in PDF and epub formats on R2P's website. People should complete a form online to receive a physical copy and indicate their motivation (why you require the book). We can also send up to 10 copies to libraries, schools, and communities.

The Psychologist in Touch book functions within the R2P's project, Addressing the Immediate Multi-sectoral Humanitarian Needs of IDPs and Conflict-affected Populations inside Ukraine, as a partner of the Ukraine Response Consortium. The program was undertaken with the financial support of the Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance, USAID (BHA).
