R2P’s experts have completed work on the AIDA (Asylum Information Database) report for the European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE). The document provides a detailed analysis of legislative and practical changes in the field of international protection, conditions for the admission of asylum seekers, as well as the content of international protection in Ukraine in 2023.
Sofiia Kordonets, Head of the Assistance to Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Stateless Persons in Ukraine programme direction at R2P:
“The AIDA report is a key tool for monitoring the situation of asylum seekers and refugees in Ukraine. It helps both national and international organisations to obtain accurate and objective information about the state of affairs in this area. This is extremely important for advocating for the rights of vulnerable groups, harmonising policies in line with EU law and further improving the international protection system in Ukraine.”
In particular, according to the report, in 2023, 130 people applied for international protection in Ukraine. A total of eight people were granted refugee status, and 45 received complementary protection.
