Digest of the monitoring service of the R2P (September)

October 10, 2023

The monitors of the R2P are, without exaggeration, universal specialists. Every month, we tell you about the most striking stories and events that happened to our colleagues in the monitoring service digest. Read on to find out what exciting things occurred in September.

We are looking for ways to solve any issue.

In Ivano-Frankivsk region, a monitor helped a bedridden IDP receive her pension. The woman could not physically get to the bank and acquire a card. Unfortunately, the bank's online customer identification procedure did not work, so our colleague turned to the Center for Social Services. There, the woman was assigned a community worker and helped to draw up a power of attorney. Later, the IDP received access to her pension.

We take comprehensive measures.

Monitors of the Lviv office and partners organised medical consultations for vulnerable categories of internally displaced women in the Novoiavorivsk territorial community. The event was comprehensive and dedicated to women's health. Those interested could also undergo a diagnostic examination, and the Foundation's monitors provided advice on protection issues.

Revealing violations of IDPs' rights.

In Ternopil region, the Foundation's monitor found an older man from Mykolaiv region who had spent six months in a hospital. He had an IDP certificate but received no cash assistance for living expenses. Our colleague referred the man to the Foundation's lawyer. The expert helped him resume payments and transferred the man's data for financial aid registration and to a partner organisation to receive cash assistance.

 We continue advocacy activities.

Thanks to the monitors of the Vinnytsia office, the Regulation on the Temporary Housing Fund was adopted in another community in the region. Also, colleagues prepared an appeal to the expert council of Khmelnytskyi on changes in the care program for the preferential category of IDPs, a request to include internally displaced persons in the social protection program in one of the communities of Vinnytsia region. Monitors from the Dnipro office informed local authorities about the temporary housing fund and the registration of IDPs needing such housing.

Helping to find understanding.

Monitors from the Chernivtsi office agreed on an after-school program for a large IDP family. They met with representatives of local authorities. As a result, four children with special speech development needs can stay at school under the supervision of a teacher.
