An art school was opened in Izium for young students – IDP children and local kids aged 7 -13 years.
The town of Izium does not offer much in terms of artistic education, therefore one of the local residents offered free premises to set up an art school. Its director – an IDP woman from Donetsk – decorated the studio with her own paintings and pictures made by children.
Now children have a place where they can unlock their artistic potential. The school offers paints, brushes, easels and artist’s canvas – everything that young artists may need.
The school director emphasizes that the door of the studio is always open for children with special needs. Currently one child with disability learns art together with his new friends.
Parents are very happy about their kids’ progress in art, communication and self-realization.
Establishment of this artistic hobby group was initiated by the activists of IDP community of Izium, and supported by the “Advocacy, Protection and Legal Assistance to the Internally Displaced Population of Ukraine” project, implemented by the Danish Refugee Council in partnership with All-Ukrainian CF “Right to Protection” with the support of the UN Refugee Agency.
