R2P Hosts the Second Power of Hromadas Forum for Psychological Services

On 18–20 June, R2P's Mental Health Care Service, with the support of the International Rescue Committee, held the second Power of Hromadas Forum of Psychological Services. This unique event brought together professionals and organisations to reflect on and share experiences gained during the Russian-Ukrainian war.

The daily routine, operational processes, and work with internally displaced persons and the war-affected population take up all working hours. Therefore, we organised this event as a space for reflection, an opportunity for professionals to share their best practices and hear about the achievements of their colleagues.

The forum lasted three days and included facilitation sessions. The first day was devoted to introductions, networking and building contacts. Presentations from organisations with many years of experience in the field of humanitarian support, as well as from newly established organisations that are actively developing and already have significant achievements, were an important component. R2P brought together professional organisations providing mental health and psychosocial support services.

The second day focused on the power of hromadas and the role of mental health services at the local level. Participants developed algorithms and proposals for strengthening communities, identified the challenges faced by local professionals, and discussed ways to address them.

The final day included a Living Library where a person acted as an open book. The forum participants presented their work, research, practical methods and techniques.

The forum was an essential step towards improving communication and cooperation between different services and organisations involved in mental health support and allowed participants to share valuable experiences and best practices.
